What is Heart Failure?
Most of the time, when people hear the phrase, “heart failure,” they panic – thinking that the heart no longer works and there is nothing that can be done. Heart failure is simply a condition in which the heart is not able to pump enough blood throughout the body as it should.
Though there is no cure for heart failure, a lot of people with the medical condition still live a long and enjoyable life when the condition is managed properly. Some of the common causes of heart failure include: hypertension, cardiomyopathy, coronary artery disease, and heart valve problems.
Can stem cells help with heart failure issues?
With respect to the heart, a stem cell therapy does not only have the ability to curtail the damaged areas, it can also initiate a cascade of biological events which will result in the healing of the heart muscle.
For example, recent animal studies have shown that stem cell therapy will cause new muscle cells to be formed through the stimulation of dormant stem cells that are already inside the heart muscle. According to these studies, the administered stem cell can also transform into a new heart muscle cells.
